THE SMASHING PUMPKINS – Cyr is their best POP hit in many years
The smashing pumpkins and song writing genius William “Billy” Corgan has done a great body of work throughout the years.
There is no question about all the amazing hits he have originated and he is one of the most underrated singers and guitar players around (or maybe he actually finally has got his recognition?..)
Last years with many different shapes of reuniting the original line up back and forth he has released good albums and solo work no doubt with last years “Shine Oh So Bright…” as one of the best highlights…Oceania and Monuments of Elegy did not give us a lasting impression even though they are not bad in any way.
BUT now this new single release “CYR” (WATCH BELOW) from an upcoming album (yet to be announced or named) shows a electronic and super pop melody that sticks in your brain together with a striking cool video that brings back memories of their ADORE album. Usually relaying on their guitar riffs this feels out of order in some way but in the best of ways because it again highlights the genius song writing of Billy Corgan.
What a great song and we can not wait for the album. With this new sound it shows great promise and might be their best release in years…
