Spotify has notified some users that their account passwords had been reset. In an email to some Spotify users, the streaming giant said the password was reset “due to detected suspicious activity.”
“As part of our ongoing maintenance efforts to combat fraudulent activity on our service,” a Spotify spokesperson told TechCrunch. “we recently shared a communication with select users to reset their passwords as a precaution. As a best practice, we strongly recommend users not to use the same credentials across different services to protect themselves.”
Commentators on Reddit and Hacker News saw signs pointing to a deeper breach, but so far Spotify has not commented further.
