In her new role, Ong will be tasked with leading both Spotify’s Artist & Label Services (ALS) and Music Culture & Editorial (MCE) teams in the UK/IE.
Commenting on her appointment, Ong said: “I’m delighted to be taking on a new role as UK Head of Music for Spotify – and looking forward to bringing all our music teams together to deliver even greater experiences for all our partners, labels, artists and, of course, our listeners.”
Tom Connaughton, Spotify’s Managing Director, UK/IE, added: “The close collaboration between our UK Music teams leads to great experiences for artists, labels, users and our people – and we’re always looking for new ways to work even more closely together. Sulinna joined us three months ago and in that time has shown great leadership, bringing 16 years’ experience pioneering global marketing strategies in the music industry, leading editorial teams as well as directly managing major artists.”
Previously, Ong held senior roles at Sony BMG in London, in artist management with the likes of Kasabian and Fun Lovin’ Criminals, and at Live Nation, where she worked on deals with Madonna, Jay Z and Roc Nation among others.
