Spotify Lite is now available in 36 countries across Asia, Latin America, Middle East and Africa for Android via Google Play. But this light version of Spotify is not yet available in key streaming markets in North America and Europe.
Spotify Lite takes up just 10 MB, less than 1oth the size of the full Spotify app and includes the ability to set a data limit and get a notification when it is reached. Users can still search and play their favorite songs and artists, save them, share with others, discover new music, and enjoy custom playlists even on older devices and operating systems.
The Lite app can be downloaded separately, both for Free and Spotify Premium users, and used alongside or independently from the main Spotify app on Android devices running version 4.3 or higher.
“Spotify Lite was built from the ground up based on user feedback from around the world, allowing millions more to enjoy the world’s best music experience – especially in areas with limited bandwidth and phone storage,” said Kalle Persson, Senior Product Manager at Spotify. Lite can be downloaded separately, both for Free and Spotify Premium users, and used either alongside or independently from the main Spotify app on all Android phones running version 4.3 or higher.
Spotify promises more markets and features in the coming months. The Spotify Lite app is currently available in these countries:
