Acknowledging that “with 180 million tracks and millions of artists to discover, sometimes SoundCloud can feel like a very big place to explore,” the streamer has launched SoundCloud Weekly, a personalized discovery playlist.
Updated every Monday, the new SoundCloud Weekly is an algorithmically-based playlist based on the music that the user has listened to, liked, reposted and shared, making recommendations on what they may want to hear next.
Users can find SoundCloud Weekly at the top of their home screen in the iOS and Android app, and in the Discover tab on the web. Users must be liking and sharing sufficiently for the tab to appear.
Kerry Trainor, Chief Executive Officer, SoundCloud sais in a statement “SoundCloud has the largest, most diverse music catalog ever assembled. SoundCloud Weekly draws from our global creator community to deliver a simple, personalized music experience that connects more creators with new listeners than ever before. Our commitment to giving more creators more ways to be discovered is why what’s next in music is first on SoundCloud.”
Users Unimpressed
While SoundCloud Weekly takes inspiration from Spotify’s wildly popular Discover Weekly playlists, SoundCloud users on Twitter were less than impressed.
so you guys just renamed “the upload” to “sc weekly” and pretended it was a new thing instead of actually attempting to innovate? cool cool.

The first one in mine, already was a hit. I imagine these new features won’t be coming to the public API any time soon? or at all? Would be cool to integrate into @Auryoapp

Stop compressing music so badly or I will never return to your platform. Either as an artist or as a listener. Your lossy compression destroys everything artists meticulously craft.
