Just hours after Sony tersely confirmed that Epic Records chief L.A. Reid was leaving the company, multiple reports surfaced that Reid had been accused of several instances of sexual harassment.
A female assistant claims that Reid, made multiple inappropriate advances including asking her to lie down in hotel bed with him and give him a hug while traveling on business. The allegations were made in a March 22 letter sent by the female staffer’s lawyer to Julie Swidler, Sony Music’s General Counsel, according to the New York Post.
Sources tell Variety that there have been “multiple” claims against Reid. Sony executives reportedly spent much of last week negotiating terms of his exit. Reid is represented by attorney Joel Katz, who heads the firm Greenberg Traurig’s Global Entertainment & Media arm.
