Performers for the 2021 Americana Honors & Awards have been announced. Included in the lineup are Brandi Carlile, Charley Crockett, Steve Earle, Fisk Jubilee Singers, The Highwomen, Jason Isbell, Sarah Jarosz, Valerie June, Amythyst Kiah, Keb’ Mo’, The Mavericks, Margo Price, Allison Russell and Carla Thomas.
Following a break due to the pandemic in 2020, the Honors & Awards will return to Nashville’s Ryman Auditorium on Wednesday, Sept. 22. Additionally, Americana stalwart, songwriter, musician and producer Buddy Miller will return as musical director for the ceremony’s Americana All-Star Band. The 2021 Honors & Awards will also include this year’s previously announced Lifetime Achievement Award Honorees: Fisk Jubilee Singers, The Mavericks, Keb Mo’, Trina Shoemaker and Carla Thomas.
A live video stream of the 2021 Honors & Awards show will be webcast via Circle TV social media channels, as well as at NPRMusic.org, while live audio simulcasts of the show will be available via SiriusXM’s Outlaw Country, and on a selection of Nashville area terrestrial radio stations.
In February 2022, PBS will broadcast ACL Presents: The 20th Annual Americana Honors, a special episode of Austin City Limits featuring performance highlights from the show.
The ceremony is the hallmark event for the 21st annual Americanafest, held at various venues throughout Nashville during the week of September 22-25. As announced last month, all Americana Honors & Awards and Americanafest-produced events attendees must present proof of full vaccination or a negative COVID-19 test within 72 hours in order to access a venue.
