Nashville Agency News: Scott Clayton Exits CAA To Join WME • Paradigm’s Steve Dahl Passes

image from members.celebrityaccess.comLongtime CAA booking agent Scott Clayton has abruptly resigned from a senior post at the agency to sign on as partner at WME. Clayton will be based in the company’s Nashville offices where he will be a co-head and oversee the company’s rock division.

Clayton, who had been with CAA since the early 1990s, served as one of five co-heads of the music department at CAA’s Nashville office where he oversaw a roster that included clients such as Dead & Company, Kings of Leon, John Mayer, and Gov’t Mule.

It was unclear at the time of publication which of Clayton’s clients would transition with him to WME.

“Over the course of my career I’ve been proud to watch the music community in Nashville grow into a global force,” Clayton said in a statement provided to Billboard. “Overseeing the rock business from this city speaks to its importance and the city’s continued expansion. WME has demonstrated a strong commitment to Nashville and the rock genre, and I look forward to working to create new opportunities for all of our clients.”

Paradigm’s Steve Dahl Passes

image from members.celebrityaccess.comVeteran talent agent and fixture of the Nashville music scene Steve Dahl has passed. He was 71.  Dahl’s passing was announced by in a statement from Paradigm, where he served as the agency’s longtime head of Paradigm’s Fairs & Festivals department: 

“We’re deeply saddened to learn of Paradigm agent Steve Dahl’s passing last night at the age of 71. Steve was the longtime head of Paradigm’s Fairs & Festivals department, having opened the Monterey Peninsula Artists Nashville office 31 years ago in 1986. He was an extraordinary presence at this agency and in the Nashville music community, and will be deeply missed.” 

Before he transitioned to the role of agent, Dahl was the singer, frontman and trumpet player for The Red Dogs, a rhythm & blues band that toured and recorded for ATCO/Atlantic Records in the 1960s. The band was inducted into the Kansas Music Hall of Fame, the Nebraska Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, the Iowa Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, and the South Dakota Rock & Roll Music Association Hall of Fame. 

Details about memorial arrangements and donations will be forthcoming from Steve’s family.
