Major Labels Team To Sue YouTube Music Ripping Sites

Youtube_logoUniversal Music, Warner Music and Sony Entertainment filed a lawsuit last Friday  against two Russian music ripping websites, FLVTO.biz and 2conv.com. Ripping music from YouTube and other streaming sites is now the most pervasive form of music piracy.

According to Billboard, the sites allow users to rip audio from videos posted to YouTube, and currently generate nearly 120 million monthly visitors combined. Though both sites have received warning letters from the RIAA and IFPI, they continue to operate.

The lawsuit follows a similar 2016 copyright infringement case against YouTube-mp3.org, which was once the world’s largest stream-ripping website.
