Move over Post Malone, Miley Cyrus, The Chainsmokers and Drake, Lil Nas X’s “Old Town Road” featuring Billy Ray Cyrus, has broken yet another record, this time for the most weeks atop the Streaming Songs charts.
The song nabbed a 17th week at No. 1 on the Streaming Songs tally dated August 3, accruing 72.5 million streams in the July 19-25 tracking week, according to Nielsen Music, knocking mega-hit “Despacito,” by Luis Fonsi and Daddy Yankee, featuring Justin Bieber, from the top spot. “Despacito” ruled the Streaming Songs chart for 16 consecutive weeks, beginning on May 27, 2017.
Earlier this week Lil Nas X also broke the all-time record for most weeks at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100, dethroning both “One Sweet Day” by Mariah Carey and Boyz II Men and “Despacito,” which were tied for 16 weeks apiece at the No. 1 spot.
The Streaming Songs chart was first implemented in 2013.
