We’ve Got A Favor To Ask
Hypebot in conjunction with Bandsintown has proposed the panel SMART TOURING: GUIDE BOOKING + MARKETING WITH DATA
“Knowing where an artist’s fan base lives and how to reach to maximize each performance opportunity and marketing spend has long been the holy grail of touring. New sources of data make that possible. But how do you filter through the mountains of data available from streaming services, social media, historical music and ticket sales, Bandsintown fan trackers and dozens of other sources to make informed decisions about which cities to play, venue size, ticket prices, marketing and more? A panel of experts will explore the best data sources for smart touring, real world examples of artists using data to tour smart, and why streaming and social data tells an important but incomplete story. And since most data is historical, how do you use it to predict the future?”
Please consider a vote for our panel here. You can access the full PanelPicker from there. The SXSW Panel Picker is tallying votes through this Friday August 23rd.
About SXSW Panel Picker
“PanelPicker connects us with the thousands of creative professionals, experienced experts and informed consumers that make up the global SXSW community. This interface helps us identify the most compelling new ideas within the many different industries we serve and, in so doing, keeps SXSW exciting, timely, and relevant.” says Hugh Forrest, SXSW Chief Programming Officer.
How Panels Are Selected: Voting + Staff + Advisory Board While voting from the community is important, these totals are not the only factor in deciding SXSW programing. As illustrated by the graph below, the SXSW staff and Advisory Boards also inform a significant percentage in determining the content lineup.
