Warner Music Group has granted music metadata platform Jaxsta permission to tap into its massive song and recording database.The deal marks Jaxsta’s 28th licencing data agreement in the last 18 months, including The Recording Academy and Sony Music Entertainment.
With the evolution of digital music, fans lost the ‘jacket’ and accompanying information that used to come with every album From radio to roadies, artists to producers, photographers to video directors. Jaxsta goal is to become “the credit roll for our industry.”
Calling itself “a massive database of official music credits,” Jaxsta sources and cross-references music metadata from official sources like labels and music publishers.
Jaxsta will compensate Warner Music for the data with an ongoing royalty fees and has agreed to issue Warner Music 1.35 million warrants at $0.01 each per share.
