Instagram now has 1billion users globally, up an impressive 200 million from September of last year. Anchoring its next chapter is an aggressive move into longer form video, including expanding the allowed video length for all users.
Instagram has launched IGTV, a new app for watching long-form, vertical videos. Videos will also be viewable within the regular Instagram app.
All Instagram users can now upload videos up to 10 minutes long (10X the previous 1 minute limit) and the most popular creators can upload videos up to 60 minutes long. There’s no clear definition yet of how Instagram defines “popular,” or if they will eventually extend the length for all users.
IGTV will be rolling out globally over the next few weeks on Android and iOS. You can learn more by visiting the Instagram Help Center.
