Every musician wants a clean profile picture for all their distribution platforms. If you’re an artist who doesn’t know how to get a pic uploaded or changed yet, you’re at the right place. Here’s the ultimate guide on how any distributing artist should go about changing their pictures:
Spotify Music
Step 1: Login to Spotify for Artists
Step 2: Go to Your Profile
- Go to your personal profile and click the pencil icon at the top right of the page.
- Go to about and find the image gallery tab. Click “+” to add images, or the icon to edit an existing gallery.
Keep in mind that there are a few guidelines for the image you decide to upload to your profile. Here’s a list of image requirements:
- File must be a .jpeg, .png, or .gif
- Dimensions must be at least 2660px x 1140px, preferably 6000px x 4000px
- Cannot exceed 20MB
- Artist face must be included in center
- Can’t contain offensive materials
- Can’t include writing, brand advertising, or busy backgrounds
- Can’t promote artists upcoming tours or album releases
- Must comply with copyright policy
YouTube Music
Step 1: Login to your YouTube Channel
- (If you haven’t converted your YouTube account to an official artist channel, please email youtube@repostnetwork.com to get started)

Step 2: After you Login to your Channel go to This Website
Step 3: Click on Update Photo (gallery or profile pic)
- Click on either gallery photo or profile photo and follow the commands given
- Save your changes and you’re all set!
Keep in mind that there are a few guidelines for the image(s) you decide to upload to your profile. Here’s a list of image requirements:
- Must be a .jpg or .png
- Must be in landscape orientation
- Minimum 5120 x 2880 at 150 dpi
- Cannot be an album cover OR include text
- Cannot upload photos containing nudity, artwork, or copyrighted images
Shazam
Step 1: Sign in to your Shazam for Artists Profile
Step 2: Click Update Image
- Scroll to your profile picture on your account and press update image
Step 3: Select a New Image that you’d like to Use
- Reposition the image to your liking and click save
For optimal picture results follow these guidelines for your image:
- Upload a .png or .jpg
- Dimensions should be at least 1000 x 1000 pixels
- Should be less than 5MB
Google Play
Step 1: Login to your Google Play Artist Account
Step 2: Click Artists & Music Tab
- Then press the Edit Artist Info button
- Press Edit Image
Step 3: Click on Upload and Publish Photo
- Choose the image you’d like to use
- Press Done to save your new picture

- Must have a minimum 2160 x 1080 pixels
- Must have a 2:1 width to height ratio
- Should be RGB encoded
Unfortunately uploading a profile picture differs between each music distribution platform, and a large amount of them don’t allow artists to go in and change theirs personally. Below is a list of platforms that don’t allow direct access:
