If you follow this blog, or indeed Point Blank at all, you’ll know how passionate we are about radio. From Madam X to Gemma Cairney and Monki, some of our most successful alumni came through these classes in London, and the landscape of internet radio tells you all you need to know about the longevity and dynamism of the medium. As such we’re always striving to keep our radio courses on the pulse of what’s happening, and one of the many ways we do this is to enable our students to gain access to some of the biggest radio studios and have them spend time with those who have been there and done it. Take a look for yourself with this photo tour of our latest excursions. The next courses are now enrolling for April 2019 and if you sign up before 26th December you’ll be able to take advantage of our huge 20% off Christmas offer! Find out more about the offer which can save you up to £5,495 here.
BBC Radio 1xtra
As part of the Station Identity and Branding class, expert instructor Bailey took our students to the BBC’s Broadcasting House to one of the biggest influences within broadcast for electronic music – Radio 1xtra.
Mi Soul Radio
Bailey also took students along to Mi Soul Radio, which covers London, Manchester and Brighton on DAB radio, and is home to the likes of Paul ‘Trouble’ Anderson among others.
Myriad System
Myriad is the UK broadcast radio industry’s #1 playout system, used by radio stations around the world for over 20 years, from national commercial broadcasters (such as talkSPORT) to school and community radio stations. The main component, Myriad Playout, provides manual, live assisted or fully automated radio playout. It also includes music and advert scheduling, CD ripping utilities, multi-media playout (for digital platforms) and reporting/administration utilities, as well as remote voice tracking and split transmission/network programming.
We’ve recently updated both our practice studio and the radio classroom to include the full Myriad system, which not only allows playlisting and the organisation of radio programmes, but for students to create and deliver live shows. Check out the newly kitted rooms below.
