Crowdfunding is becoming a common way to fund a business…
Carl Fritjofsson has been working on bringing back iconic technology products from the 80s, by re-designing and modernising products from this era. The re-fits are not a complete design overhaul, but more-so an update and a re-fresh whilst preserving the 80s feel and look.
The idea is that, by updating and reviving these products they can be made to be relevant in today’s market. The first product is a pair of unique headphones. But, that’s just the beginning, there is talk of other retro re-fits that may take place. There could be boombox’s and other cool music technology pieces from the 80s coming the music industry’s way.
The campaign is called Rewind, and has just launched. So far, there are 121 people backing the campaign and Fritjofsson has raised $5,228. Though his pledge is to reach the $30,000 goal in the remaining 24 days of the crowdfunding campaign.
The idea is cool and is also very fitting for this era, as we are a generation of people who are slightly obsessed with reviving the 80s and 90s, whether that be through fashion or music. We have already seen a resurgence in vinyl sales, with young collectors driving sales. It’s becoming a ‘thing’ to own something that is a ‘blast from the past’.
These 80s revival music pieces have the ability to do well in terms of sales, and I believe there may be a lot of interest in the products. But, the re-production and updating of future 80s products falls in the hands of the crowdfunding campaign and its success. The campaign is still a long way from the $30,000 goal, currently sitting at just over $5000 it’s not even 20% there yet.
More information on the campaign can be found here.
