BandsInTown has launched “Big Break,” a program designed to highlight merging artists on the popular concert discovery platform. Like Spotify’s RISE and Apple Music’s UP NEXT, Big Break aims to harness the site’s community of millions of active music fans to help new artists develop a following.

Concert listing and discovery app BandsInTown has launched “Big Break” to promote up and coming artists.
“Helping music lovers find new acts to obsess over is kind of our thing,” writes the startup: “That’s why we’re excited to announce Big Break, a new feature that highlights everything you need to know about the fresh faces turning the industry upside down. From the secrets behind their viral tracks to their big plans for the future, read on for the 411 on the industry’s most promising up-and-comers (you can thank us later).”
Anchored by an ongoing series of blog posts, Bandsintown will select 50 artists and give them six months to go from 500 to 5,000 trackers following them on app. “We want them to be serious about touring, and we’ll promote them at trade shows, ” says Bandsintown co-managing partner Fabrice Sergent.
Initial artists getting the Big Break treatment are North Carolina based rockers FOXTRAX and London based singer songwriter Minke.
