The latest executive shuffles across the music industry…
Universal Music Group (UMG) hired Ty Roberts as Senior Vice President and Chief Technology officer. This role will be effective as of April 25th. Roberts will be based in Santa Monica, CA, and will report to Michael Nash, Executive Vice President of Digital Strategy. This is a newly-created role, and just one of several new jobs in the music industry popping up this year.
As part of their expansion, UMG has also moved Jeremy Erlich from Head of Corporate Development and Strategy to Chief Financial Officer and Executive Vice President of Business Development for Interscope Geffen A&M.
Also, UMG’s US classical music division sees the exit of Elizabeth Sobol who was President of the division since 2013. Sobol is leaving as soon as next week, according to reports, but UMG’s has already got plans for fill the role.

The Association of Independent Music (AIM) has elevated Lara Barker to Director. Barker has been a longtime team member and joined the business in 2004 as an Administration Officer. Barker will now take on the newly-created role of Marketing and Events Director.
PIAS have announced key promotions in the UK team. Jason Rackham, the current Managing Director of PIAS Cooperative, is elevated to Managing Director of PIAS UK. In his new role, Rackham will be responsible for the three core divisions: Artist and Label Services, Cooperative and Play It Again Sam.
In addition, PIAS has also elevated Craig Penny to Head of PIAS Cooperative.
