Spotify honored behind the scenes music makers at the Secret Genius Awards Friday evening in Los Angeles. Held at the Ace Theater, the award show was hosted by Ne-Yo.
This year’s top honors went to Murda Beatz for Producer of the Year (Drake’s “Nice For What” and “Motorsport” by Migos featuring Nicki Minaj), Ali Tamposi for Songwriter of the Year (Camila Cabello’s “Havana,” “Wolves” by Selena Gomez and Marshmello) and Benny Blanco for Secret Genius: Pop (“Now or Never” by Halsey and “Happier” by Ed Sheeran).
Legendary producer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Quincy Jones was also honored with the Secret Genius: Legendary Genius Honor, which was presented to him by Timbaland.
Performers for the evening included Bebe Rexha and Justin Tranter, Jacob Collier, Becky G, Daniel Caesar, Ty Dolla $ign, Robert Glasper, Taylor McFerrin and Terrace Martin.
