Producer George Ian Boxill has reportedly been ordered to pay nearly $4 million to the estate of Prince for releasing songs after his death without permission.
Boxill was ordered to pay the estate $3,960,287.65 for damages, costs and attorney’s fees, according to court documents obtained by The Blast and was ordered to return all Prince materials obtained through his work for Prince to the estate.
Boxill attempted to release an EP called Deliverance last year, according to an arbitrator, and awarded the estate $3 million for the breach.
The producer has reportedly filed documents to attempt to vacate the award; the estate has asked the court to confirm the judgment.
