Disney and Marvel’s ‘Black Panther’ continued an impressive run, adding $100 million in its second weekend in U.S. theaters, becoming only the fourth movie to achieve the feat.
The film also topped past rivals such as “Marvel’s Avengers” and “Marvel’s Avengers” to claim the title of second best sophomore weekend in U.S. box office history.
Worldwide, ‘Black Panther’ added $191.8M with $108.0M of that coming from North American territories over the weekend, according to figures compiled by comScore. To date, in all markets, the film has racked up an impressive $704m in cumulative revenue in just two weeks.
Chinese action film ‘Operation Red Sea’ in just 6 territories earned $107.5 million this weekend with a global cumulative to date of $335.1 million. New Line’s Cinema ‘Game Night’ and Sony’s ‘Peter Rabbit’ rounded out the top 3 in North America, adding $16.6m and $12.5m respectively over the weekend.
