Travis Denning‘s new six-song EP Might As Well Be Me, is slated to drop on Aug. 5. Today (July 8), the rising singer-songwriter released a new track from the upcoming project, “Buy A Girl A Drink,” co-written with Jeremy Stover, Paul DiGiovanni and Chase McGill.
Might As Well Be Me will include the previously-released track “She’s On It,” a contemplation on a mistake that can’t be fixed. On “Don’t Give a Truck” Denning drops some heartfelt wisdom with a pure country turn of phrase. Other tracks on the collection include the nostalgia-tinged “River Named Mississippi,” rollicking “Red Round Here,” and the serene “If You Need Anything Down Here,” which finds Denning pledging support to a fallen friend.
“Last year and my most recent EP were all about thankfulness, and being glad to have any live shows at all,” Denning reveals. “This time a lot of that is behind us, and it’s like ‘Alright, let’s get to work.’ Overall, I wanted this EP to feel like a setlist. And I wanted it to be a no skipper.”
The Georgia native and Mercury Nashville recording artist’s first No. 1, “After A Few,” was recently certified Platinum. He’s currently out on the road this summer with Dierks Bentley, and will join Jake Owen on tour this fall.
