Milk Music, the on again off again attempt by Samsung, one of the world’s biggest cell phone manufacturers to launch a music service, is shutting down today. One beneficiary of Milk’s demise is the often overlooked streamer Slacker.

Samsung Milk Music will officially shut down today.
Because streamer Slacker Radio has long powered Milk Music, users will be encouraged to transition to Slacker. To encourage the shift, Nilk users are being offered a free 14-day trial of its middle tier Slacker Plus along with the ability to transfer stations and song history.
“While we’re not commenting on Samsung’s decision to no longer support Milk Music, our hope is that the impact on users will be minimal,” said Duncan Orrell-Jones, CEO of Slacker Radio. “Milk Music has always been powered by Slacker Radio, and by switching over to Slacker, music fans can continue to enjoy the same personalized listening experience they’ve come to love through our unique programming, storytelling and curated stations.
