R. Kelly is back in the Top 20 on Billboard. Given the horrific stories surrounding Kelly in recent weeks, perhaps it’s curiosity rather than being reminded of a favorite song. But either way, both Kelly and Sony, who just severed ties with the R&B singer for future projects, will profit.
The album “The Essential R. Kelly” re-entered the Billboard Top R&B Albums chart at #19., for the first time since 2015. “Essential” also debuts at #144 on the Billboard 200 and #46 on the Top Catalog Albums chart.
Kelly’s hits “Ignition” and “I Believe I Can Fly” have reentered the Billboard R&B Digital Song Sales chart at #12 and #19 respectively. “Ignition” also has 3.1 million U.S. streams since the documentary premiered, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
