The Spotify mobile music app has been renamed Spotify – Music and Podcasts, as the company brings its $500 million bet on podcasting to the forefront of its entire ecosystem. The new design is be available to some users, but the streamer has offered no date for a full roll out.
Music still holds its prominent place within Spotify’s app, but right alongside it is a new Podcasts tab at the top of the app’s Library page. Both saved and reccomended music and podcasts are now found there. Previously users had to click though as many as six categories to find their favorite podcasts.
The new design also adds categories within the two sections.
“The new music library tab, for example, has added “Liked Songs” as a standalone pocket that users can jump into,” writes The Verge. “The smaller tabs at the top of the page are now broken down into three specific categories: Playlists, Artists, and Albums. On the podcast side, people can choose to browse via Episodes, Downloads, and Shows.”
