Label exec Antonio “L.A.” Reid has pulled out of his upcoming opening keynote address at the MIDEM conference in Cannes. News of Reid’s departure from the program was announced via MIDEM’s social media:
“Due to unforeseen circumstances, LA Reid will no longer be #midem’s opening keynote, June 6. The rest of the programme remains unchanged.”
L. A. Reid, who until earlier this month was the CEO/Chairman of Epic Records, recently left the label under a cloud of sexual harassment allegations.
Variety, who first reported on Reid’s withdrawal, noted that Reid has kept a low profile since exiting Epic in early May. As of yet, no replacement has been announced by MIDEM.
According to Variety, Reid has been meeting with investors, including CAA co-founder Michael Ovitz about the potential of launching his own entertainment company.
