After Korn revealed that bassist Reginald “Fieldy” Arvizu would be unable to join his bandmates for their upcoming tour of South America, the group announced that Tye Trujillo, the 12-year-old son of Metallica bassist Robert Trujillo, would be filling in.
We are bummed Fieldy can’t join us on this run but excited to do a few gigs with a young player like Tye,” The band said in a post to their social media. “We look forward to welcoming our brother Fieldy back when we return to the States in May.”
Korn is playing 5 shows in the region, including dates in Bogota, Colombia, Buenos Aires, Argentina, and Sao Paulo Porto, and Curitiba in Brazil through April.
The series of gigs with Korn mean that young Ty will need to take a short hiatus from his regular band, The Helmets, a band composed of four young men, all under the age of 15. The band has already performed at several big festivals, including Lollapalooza, both the Chile and Chicago editions, as well as the Bottle Rok festival.
Fieldy will rejoin the group in time for the band’s performance at Carolina Rebellion on May 6.
