Indie Because Group Acquires London Records Catalog

image from www.celebrityaccess.comEmmanuel de Buretel’s independent French label group Because Music has acquired the majority of the catalog of legendary London Records that includes hits from artists such as Happy Mondays, Fine Young Cannibals, and Orbital.

Long a fixture in the UK music scene, London Records was the label home to numerous artists including the Kinks, The Stones and The Moody Blues. London Records also spawned numerous imprints over the years, including the Sire and Monument labels.

The deal, made with Warner Music, is a part of the divestment process for Paralophone divestment agreement with Merlin/Impala, Music Week reported.

According to Music Week, Because does not intend to revive the storied label, but will instead release material from the catalog under the name London Music Stream which will remain independent from Because Music’s London offices.
