European digital music distributor IDOL (Independent Distribution Online) is expanding its North America presence with the hire of Sean Maxson as General Manager. Maxson has previously held posts at [PIAS] as General Manager, Cooperative Music as General Manager & RED Distribution as VP, Label Management.
IDOL staff member, Thomas Sharp Maxwell, who established the company’s NYC base has been promoted to Director, Label Development and A&R.
The independent company now represents a broad selection of labels based in the US and now has offices in New York (Williamsburg), Paris, London, Berlin and Johannesburg.
IDOL works with 300 labels, including GODMODE (Yaeji, Shamir), Record Makers (Sebastien Tellier, Dita Von Teese), Axis Mundi (The Fluids), No Format! (Oumou Sangaré), Text records (Four Tet), Proper Music Group (Paul Carrack), Infiné (Carl Craig), Local Action (Dawn) and What Are Records (The Samples, 24-7 Spyz). In addition, IDOL provides technology services to various digital content distributors, including Because Music, Kompakt, Ditto, Seed, Select and Virtual Label.
