UPDATE: In a statement (below) Spotify denied that it had been hacked despite reports to the contrary and customers who say that their requests for help are going unheeded.
Spotify user information has been posted online on Pastebin.
Hundreds of users had personal data including mails, usernames, passwords, account type and other information posted online on April 23rd. Spotify, however, says that “it has not been hacked” and that its “user records are secure.”
However the breach occurred, Spotify is not being responsive, several affected users told TechCrunch. “I suspected my account had been hacked last week as I saw ‘recently played’ songs that I’d never listened to, so I changed my password and logged out of all devices,” one victim said.
“I was definitely hacked and later tried googling ‘Spotify hack news’ last night to no avail,” another victim said. “I noticed it last night when I opened Spotify on my phone and saw someone was using my account somewhere else.”
UPDATE – Spotify issued this statement denying that is had been hacked:
“[Spotfiy has] not been hacked and our user records are secure. We monitor Pastebin and other sites regularly. When we find Spotify credentials, we first verify that they are authentic, and if they are, we immediately notify affected users to change their passwords.”
