• Matt Adell, the former CEO of Beatport, has launched his new company MetaPop. The company is the first platform to monetizing fan remixes for remixers and rights holders.
• MediaTechnics Corporation (PINKSHEETS: MEDT) announced that subsidiary Evergreen Systems Incorporated has added Lee Trink to the Board of Advisors. Mr. Trink served as the President of Capital Records and previously helped run Virgin Records and Lava Records as the General Manager. Currently he is President of Dare Mighty Entertainment which manages acts such as Kid Rock.
• Universal Music Group has promoted Barak Moffitt to the newly-created position of EVP Content Strategy and Operations. For years, Moffitt ran the legendary Capitol Studios and Mastering in Hollywood.
• SESAC hosted its 20th annual Pop Awards at Cipriani 42nd Street on April 18, with Jimmy Napes capturing top honors of Songwriter of the Year. Napes also won Song of the Year Award for the Sam Smith recorded hit, “I’m Not The Only One.”
• SGAE, the Spanish Society of Authors and Editors, has named its 40th president – musician and composer José Miguel Fernández Sastrón. He will serve until 2019.
• 7digital has appointed Edward Kershaw to the role of Chief Commercial Officer. Kershaw began his career in the record industry and more recently was head of music at Vodafone and as a VP at Nielson.
• Universal Music UK has appointed Brian Celler as EVP, head of international.
• Three Six Zero has appointed Stirling McIlwaine to the new position of SVP of US artist management.
