Cardi B Can’t Trademark ‘Okurrr says US Patent Office

image from celebrityaccess.comU.S. Patent and Trademark officials have refused Cardi B’s attempt to trademark her popular catchphrase “Okurr,” striking down any plans to profit from the phrase.

Officials said the “slogan” falls under the category of “widely used commonplace expressions” and does not deserve a trademark, according to documents obtained by The Blast.

They added that Okurr “is a slogan or term that does not function as a trademark or service mark to indicate the source of applicant’s goods and/or services” and does not distinguish itself from other similar marks.

USPTO officials apparently combed the internet and found tons of uses of Okurr – but most were fans ripping off Cardi B, according to The Blast. However, some uses were by the Kardashians from years ago.

Worse, it appears some of Cardi’s fans filed similar trademark applications before she filed her application in March.
