Austin Daboh, Head of Music Culture & Editorial at Spotify UK, has reportedly resigned. He joined Spotify in 2016 as Senior Editor, Shows & Editorial, from the music team at BBC Radio 1Xtra, and was promoted by the streamer last year.
During his time at Spotify, Daboh launched and developed hip-hop/R&B-leaning playlist brands including Who We Be, which has also become a successful live UK event in its own right, and oversaw a number of key playlist brands such as Hot Hits UK and New Music Friday.
Rumors have begun to surface that Daboh is headed to rival Apple, according to MBW. If this proves to be true, he will be reunited with his former BBC boss and mentor, George Ergatoudis, who currently serves as Apple Music’s Head of the UK.
Daboh is the second Spotify executive to jump ship in less than a month, following the departure of Global Head of Publishing, Adam Parness.
