One of the many reasons aspiring music producers, DJs, singers, songwriters and artist managers choose to study with Point Blank, is that a wealth of talented and successful industry professionals have also spent time studying with us.
Our talented family of alumni grows each year, with many house-hold names having graced the Point Blank studios. During our 25-years operating as a music school, we’ve helped the likes of Pete Tong, Patrick Topping, Madam X, Leona Lewis, Goldie, Claude VonStroke, Detboi, Aluna Francis and many others hone their skills and perfect their craft.
For this new series, we’re spotlighting some of our more recent alumni, showcasing the great accomplishments theses up-and-comers have achieved and what’s on the horizon. Want to join the Point Blank family? Then be sure to check out our courses here.
Jaden Thompson – fabric / Emerald City / BBC Radio 1
Jaden Thompson is a DJ and Producer who studied Point Blank’s Music Production & Sound Engineering Diploma. Due to his shuffling percussive tracks, which have been championed by the likes of DJ Mag, and his ultra-tight DJ sets, he released a three-track EP, Alright EP, via Jamie Jones and Lee Foss’ Emerald City imprint. In addition to this, Thompson was recently snatched up by London’s iconic fabric nightclub to play as a resident DJ.
Last year, Thompson remained busy in the industry. At the beginning of 2020, the DJ and producer was listed as one of BBC Radio 1’s Future Fire artists, stepping up to deliver a guest mix for Danny Howard’s primetime radio slot, along with a live interview. In addition, he was also featured on Radio 1’s Lockdown Link-Up series where two upcoming artists team up to collaborate virtually on a new track. This collaboration between Jaden Thompson and BUTCH, ‘Poison’, was premiered again on Radio 1 primetime back in April 2020.
Continuing his stream of vice-like productions and guest mixes, the Point Blank alumni was enlisted by the legendary Pete Tong, who is also a Point Blank alumni, to deliver this month’s instalment of his Radio 1 Lockdown Mix series. Listen back to that here.
