Back in July, we told you about some of our charitable partners around the world. One of these is a fantastic project based in Tanzania called Last Night a DJ Saved my Life, who aim to utilise the global dance music community to help improve life for people in Tanzania who really need it. A recent event saw them undertake the ambitious challenge of putting on the highest DJ set ever performed, climbing Kilimanjaro with Nightmares on Wax, a DJ controller and a soundsystem to have a party near the summit. Check out the breathtaking trip below and head to their website to find out more.
Here’s studio head Modest on the first day, just as the team set off
The crew approach the mountain, with soundsystem in tow
Daybreak on day three as they wake up above the clouds
Snow comes into view at Barafu Camp, just before the final ascent
All 17 members of the crew reach the summit
Nightmares on Wax sets the world record for the highest ever DJ set at Crater Camp, just below the summit at a height of 5750M / 18865ft
We’re delighted to support initiatives like this which do so much for communities around the world. If you’d like to donate to this particular project, head here. As part of our involvement, we send equipment to be used in a local studio every year so more and more young people can get into making music and DJing. You can study all sorts with us too from DJing to songwriting to music production. Check out our schools in London, Los Angeles, Ibiza, Mumbai and Online for more info.
